You can help migrants, and work for social justice and human dignity, by getting involved – through donations, volunteering your time, and learning about the issues and challenges facing so many people. Here are a few of the many organizations that are working for social justice and human dignity:
Annunciation House is a volunteer organization that offers hospitality to migrants, immigrants, and refugees in the border region of El Paso, Texas. Since its founding in 1978, it has provided shelter, clothing, food, and other basic necessities for hundreds of thousands of migrants, mostly from Mexico and Central America.
The Green Valley-Sahuarita Samaritans are friends and neighbors who believe there should be no more deaths in their desert. The GVS Samaritans believe that providing help to another human being in distress is a fundamental human value.
#BlackLivesMatter was founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of Trayvon Martin’s murderer. Black Lives Matter Foundation, Inc is a global organization in the US, UK, and Canada, whose mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.
Bethany House of Hospitality offers housing and support services to young immigrant women as they journey to independence.
Heartland Alliance’s National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC) is dedicated to ensuring human rights protections and access to justice for all immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. With offices in Chicago, Indiana, San Diego, and Washington, D.C., NIJC provides direct legal services to and advocates for these populations through policy reform, impact litigation, and public education.
